Flexiture Empowers Parents & Teachers of Children with ADD / ADHD
Flexible Structuring empowers parents and teachers to solve big and small problems faced by their children and students with attention disorders. In turn, struggling children are empowered when their parents and teachers consistently collaborate to consider if a specific challenge is be best addressed by (1) providing structure to help the child successfully complete the difficult task, (2) flexibly making age-appropriate adjustments for distractibility. inconsistent mental effort. and variable self-monitoring, or (3) a combination of flexibility and structure (flexiture).
Children with attention challenges respond well to structure in any setting: At home and in the classroom, structured behavioral techniques and discipline are proven successful. Flexible structuring empowers children, parents, and teachers to solve important problems without bemoaning them.
This is not an easy “quick-fix” psychological gimmick: flexiture is a way of thinking that involves celebrating little successes each day. Flexible structuring is an attitude that requires creative and consistent discipline, a good amount of grace, and a strong sense of humor while helping your child or student develop his or her own systematic approach to problem solving.
Flexiture is hard work, but the rewards are worth the tireless consistent effort. This site is designed to help families and educators develop the skills and abilities to successfully address the needs of their children and students who struggle with attention disorders.
